1st Kirton Scout Group first started in 1973 and this year is our 40th birthday. We are celebrating by extending our annual car boot sale to include a fun day with lots of activities to take part in.

The Cubs section was the first to start in 1973, followed about a year later by a Scout Troop. The Beaver section followed much later around 1998.

The groups first met in the Church Hall at Kirton but were pleased when they could have their own hut in the Church grounds a couple of years later.

Sadly the hut is showing it’s age now but we hope to be able to replace the hut sometime in the not too distant future.

Back then we were part of the Felixstowe District but this later became the Orwell District we are part of now.
